Welcome! The UVA Club of the Triangle is a volunteer led group dedicated to engaging alumni, parents and friends of the University. The club is very active and puts on several events throughout the year with a focus on:
UVA admissions and engagement with current and prospective students.
We have a lot of fun and would love for you join the fun. Go Hoos!
Events Committee Chair
Our committee strives to bring diverse and interesting events to UVA alumni, thereby providing networking and social outlets. We oversee events from happy hours, to theatre nights, to sporting events.
This committee is constantly in need of volunteers to help us plan the next new event, assist in the planning, and promote events. Whether you want to be involved with one particular event or be a part of all, we need you on our committee!
Upcoming Committee Meetings:
If you would like to join the Events Committee, assist in any one of the goals below, or have any feedback, please contact us at email@example.com.
Membership Committee Chair
Our committee represents alumni from different perspectives on campus and throughout the Triangle. Our goal is to encourage all local alums and friends to join the club. We also help the club meet the diverse needs and interests of our alumni by providing feedback on events and activities.
Depending on your availability, you can participate as an active or advisory volunteer on the committee. We get together regularly with meetings rotating among Durham, Raleigh, and Chapel Hill. We would love for you to join us.
Events sponsored by the Membership Committee:
Membership Kick-Off: event held each September
President’s Holiday Party: held each December for Board of Directors, Jefferson and Rotunda Society Members
Service Committee Chair
Our committee strives to organize activities that allow UVA alumni to come together and give back to the Triangle community by volunteering our time and efforts for various worthy causes. We plan events such as Cavaliers Care (UVA’s nationwide volunteerism effort, held annually in April) and Habitat for Humanity work days. Groups that we have volunteered with in the past include:
Durham Public Education Network
Habitat for Humanity of Wake County
IMAGINE (Increased Mobility And Greater INdependence Equipment)
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
Our committee is always searching for new and interesting ways to give back to the community. If you have any ideas for a service event, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you! With your contributions this past year, we are able to offer our Annual Scholarship of $1,000 to a local Triangle student admitted to the University each spring. As always, we’ll be awarding the scholarship at our Annual Student Send-Off Picnic this August.
The UVA Club of the Triangle awards an annual scholarship, as administered and maintained by the Education Committee.
The Triangle Hoos provide one scholarship annually to a local student attending UVA as a First Year student in the fall.
To apply, the student must submit the scholarship application form and a 500-word essay on the topic provided. A committee rates the entries according to three criteria: creativity, clarity, and use of the English language. Applicants are also judged according to extra-curricular activities, community service, and academic performance.
Over the past twelve years, our club has grown into an active group of alumni, students, parents, and friends. Our members now hail from Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, Apex, Henderson, and Knightdale and alums range from the class of 1937 to current UVA students. We invite you to consider the many benefits of membership:
Stay Connected: Membership entitles you to member discounts, club publications, and invitations to special events.
Support the Triangle Hoos Scholarship: Each year, the club also awards a scholarship to a deserving student from the Triangle area entering her/his first year (for more on the scholarship, visit our scholarship page). Club memberships at the Rotunda Society and Jefferson Society levels are tax-deductible as they contribute to the Triangle Hoos Scholarship Fund. Of course, we welcome scholarship contributions of any amount.
Get Involved: By joining any of our committees or simply providing feedback, you can help us improve our programs and make the club a better resource for Triangle alumni.
