COVID-19, Children, and Pregnancy with Dr. Jennifer Shu (CLAS ’88) and Dr. Marissa Ylagan (CLAS ’98)

On Thursday, November 12th, alumni, parents, and friends joined us for a discussion on COVID-19, children, and pregnancy featuring Dr. Jennifer Shu (CLAS ’88) and Dr. Marissa Ylagan (CLAS ’98).

Dr. Shu shared more about how COVID-19 has impacted children. Dr. Jennifer Shu, originally from Tidewater, and currently living and working in Atlanta, is a board-certified pediatrician and mom. Her experiences range from being in private practice to working in an academic medical center, where she was director of the normal newborn nursery. In addition to her pediatric practice, she is an author, consultant, and frequent media guest.

Our very own UVA Club of San Antonio board member Marissa Ylagan discussed COVID-19 and pregnancy. Dr. Marissa Valencia Ylagan is a northern Virginia native, currently living and working in San Antonio. Dr. Ylagan is double board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal Fetal Medicine. She spent a significant portion of her career in an academic medical center setting, where she served as the Chief of Maternal Fetal Medicine, and now works in private practice.
