The UVA Club of Boston hosted John Unsworth (GSAS ’88), University Librarian and Dean of Libraries at UVA, who joined us from his home in Pavilion II on the Lawn on Thursday, April 2nd.
In this virtual lecture, Dean Unsworth spoke about the Library’s many initiatives, as well as, the on-grounds work that the library staff is carrying out. From scanning hundreds of books for classes now offered remotely to providing professors and students with the digital resources needed to succeed, he remarked that the Library plays a vital role in supporting the University’s efforts to move classes online for the remainder of the spring semester.
His lecture also shed light on the ongoing renovation and expansion of Alderman Library. As more colleges are trending towards digital, Dean Unsworth showed UVA’s commitment to both physical and digital resources. More than 40 participated in our inaugural faculty Zoom lecture. Many questions were asked, and people enjoyed the update of UVA’s historic library!
