If, somehow, neither multi-national Coastal Carolina nor enigmatic Memphis nor balanced George Washington can defeat Virginia, frightening Michigan State certainly will in the round of 16.
There’s no doubt about that.
Don’t mind me. After decades of sitting in press boxes practicing neutrality, learning to root silently for the better story no matter what color the jersey, I’m just relearning how to be (kind of) a Virginia fan. I’m relearning the most useful mental gadget of the fanatic: the ability to envision and accept cataclysm even before the game begins.
