Cavaliers Care
Cavaliers Care is a volunteer service initiative, through which alumni, parents, and friends expand on the University’s tradition of service by serving their communities in the month of April to celebrate the anniversary of Thomas Jefferson’s birth.
Over the past ten years, this international volunteerism initiative has successfully engaged UVaClub members in a shared sense of purpose. The UVAClub of Chicago volunteers throughout the year though, so always check the calendar for dates!
UVaClub of Chicago Cavaliers Care 2012
Earlier in 2012, the UVaClub of Chicago volunteered at the Greater Chicago Food Depository with packing and organizing food. Please visit the Greater Chicago Food Depository's website (www.chicagosfoodbank.org) for more information on the organization's initiatives. In June, the UVaClub of Chicago will be joining up with Chicago Cares to help out with the 19th Annual Serve-a-Thon - Chicago's biggest day of service on June 9. Check the calendar on June 9 for the most up-to-date information.
Thanks to our 2011 volunteers for another successful and fun Cavaliers Care initiative, and thank you in advance for those who will be assisting with the Greater Chicago Food Depository in 2012! Please see the calendar for details for 2012.
About Cavaliers Care
Cavaliers Care is a worldwide volunteerism initiative based on one of the core principles of a Jeffersonian society -- citizenship. This tie that binds together Virginia alumni, families, and friends serves as the foundation of this program. Cavaliers Care is local, national, and international in scope simultaneously; while people in each community focus on projects close to home, the energy of alumni, family, and friends making a difference across the globe elevates this program to a higher level. The concept is simple: harness the enthusiasm of Virginia alumni, families, and friends in local volunteer initiatives everywhere to create a coordinated effort worldwide. Clubs from South Beach to San Francisco to Singapore will execute volunteer projects timed to coincide with the celebration of the birth of U.Va.'s founder, Thomas Jefferson.
