Cindy Fredrick

Assistant Vice President, Office of Engagement 

Cindy Fredrick is the Assistant Vice President for Engagement at the University of Virginia. She joined the Office of Engagement in July 2006 after 14 years of serving as the President/Executive Director of Madison House, U.Va.’s student volunteer center. Cindy hold’s a B.S.W. from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and a M.Ed. from California State University in Sacramento. Prior to her career with the University of Virginia, Cindy served as Director of Social Services and Admissions for long term care facilities, Managing Director for a Children’s Theatre and Associate Director for Virginians Against Sexual Assault.

Cindy has been active in the Charlottesville area community since 1989 and has held leadership positions with several volunteer organizations including; OffStage Theatre, Sexual Assault Resource Agency, the Retired Senior Volunteer Advisory Board, and the Charlottesville Social Service Advisory Board. Cindy is a graduate of Leadership Charlottesville and a volunteer with youth sports leagues, her children’s schools and her church.

Cindy is married to John Piller, a 1991 alumnus from U.Va.’s Department of Creative Writing, and together they have two children, Samuel and Lucas.
