Dr. Jamshid A.H. Bakhtiar holds two degrees from the University of Virginia, having earned his undergraduate degree in anthropology in 1958 and his medical degree in 1963. While at the University, Dr. Bakhtiar was an All-American football player, president of his fraternity and active with the Judiciary Committee and ROTC.
He has spent five decades practicing medicine in the United States and Iran, where he created the first Psychiatric Residency Program for the University of Isfahan and the first psychiatric unit in a general hospital in the country. Committed to making a difference, Dr. Bakhtiar has traveled around the world to address such topics such as "Self Esteem" to children and school administrators and the "What, When, Who, Why and How" of Depression and Schizophrenia to health care providers. He has also published works on topics ranging from "The Identity Crisis in Islamic Revolution" to "The Care of the Dying Patient."
