Best Practices Guide

You've been there. An event has just finished. You've said goodbye to the last few guests. You've thanked your host, your speaker, your fellow volunteers. And, as you make your way home, the smile starts to spread.
It may have been a student send-off party, a speaker event, a signature event. There may have been five guests, there may have been hundreds. Or maybe your club does a particular kind of event especially well: game watching gatherings, regular happy hours, intramural athletics. Your club has pulled it off: the kind of event that makes it all worthwhile.
This year, UVaClubs are beginning a new tradition of sharing their triumphs with the University, and one another. In time for the 2008 Leadership Conference, the Office of Engagement is compiling a Best Practices Guide, which will be distributed to all Conference attendees and club leaders. Now is the time for you to share the details on your club's best moments.
But this is about more than just shining. The idea of the Best Practices Guide is for UVaClubs to mutually benefit from experience. For this guide to do its job, we're going to need to include the pitfalls—and how you’ve dealt with them.
Don't let your club be left out of this important volume. Submit the form below by Friday May 16, so we can include your entry. If you have any trouble deciding which event to include, contact your REO—they'll be eager to help jog your memory. After all, they've walked away from one or two of your events smiling to themselves as well. Please fill in the form below, save it to your desktop, and email back to uvaclubs@virginia.edu.
