Cavaliers Care 2009

Again this year throughout the month of April, the UVaClub of the Roanoke Valley supported the Southwestern Virginia Second Harvest Food Bank as part of U.Va's 2009 Cavaliers Care. Cavaliers Care is a volunteer service initiative, timed in April around Thomas Jefferson's birthday, where Virginia alumni and friends worldwide support their communities in a variety of public service ways. The UVaClub of the Roanoke Valley collected food, raised funds and volunteered at the Food Bank for a day of service. Over 100 volunteer hours were logged, by all ages, as even children of local Virginia grads came out for the service day, held on April 25. In addition to monetary donations, over 200 pounds of food items were donated to the Food Bank. Thanks to all who made this another successful Cavaliers Care year in Roanoke, during a time when food banks are in great need.
