2009 Young Alumni Panel

On September 16, the UVaClub of Birmingham hosted Senior Admission Counselor Olivia Hessing for an Undergraduate Admission Night and Young Alumni Panel. Forty-five local high school students and parents joined us at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens to learn about U.Va. Special thanks to the young alumni who shared stories from first year in Charlottesville: Virginia Uhrin, Will Davis, Jennis Warren, Justin Owen, Key Hudson and Carrie Knopf.

This Fall, thousands of local high school seniors are deciding where to go to college. Let’s make sure that U.Va. is at the top of the list for our best and brightest! Be sure to tell them what a great experience you had in Charlottesville.

2009 Student Send Off

Thursday, August 13, 2008

On August 13, the UVaClub of Birmingham held its New Student Send-off Party, the 21st annual event at the home of George Lynn. Over 65 alumni and guests enjoyed the evening as we introduced the lucky first-years to a favorite local U.Va. tradition.
Birmingham sent six new students to Charlottesville this year: Kathryn Yates, Caroline Brady, Richard Murray, Edith Taylor, Emily Donovan and Evan Grenier.

The Club would like to extend special thanks to our host, George Lynn (LAW ’74). His gracious hospitality has made this event an outstanding success year after year. We would also like to thank Cindy Fredrick, Assistant Vice President of the Office of Engagement, for her visit.
