McIntire Department of Art—Student Travel Funds: $2,000
Undergraduate art history students often use slides, digital projections, and book illustrations to study great works of art and architecture. But nothing can replace the direct personal experience of powerful paintings, sculptures, and historic buildings. While travel itself is invaluable for students of art, it is even more important for them to study abroad, living and learning in contact with the art, languages, and cultures that created the art. A gift of $2,000 will help a student participate in a study-abroad program for a year, semester, summer, or January-Term, whether sponsored by U.Va. or another university.
Drama

Department of Drama—Dance Program: $200–$2,000
Gifts to the new dance program in the Department of Drama will help support student projects and fund residencies of professional dance companies.
Department of Drama—Design and Technical Theater: $100–$1,000
Contributions to the David Weiss Fellowship Fund will help students studying design and technical theater, disciplines where there are limited teaching assignments and students often struggle to make ends meet.

Department of Drama—Graduate Students in Acting: $500–$5,000
Support for the Actor's Fund will help graduate students studying acting.
Music

McIntire Department of Music—Cavalier Marching Band Scholarships: $500–$2,000
The Cavalier Marching Band offers scholarships for members who are drum majors, section leaders, drill instructors, and support staff. A gift of $500 to $2,000 will help offset the cost of tuition and books for members of the Cavalier Marching Band.
McIntire Department of Music—Classroom Equipment: $200–$1,000
Like a science department, a music department depends on numerous specialized pieces of equipment for its classrooms. These range from audio-visual components, to recording technology, to computer software, to musical instruments and accessories. Prices range widely, but many items fall in the $200 to $1,000 range.
McIntire Department of Music—Eleanor Shea Visiting Musicians Fund: $1,000–$2,000
When major musical artists perform in Charlottesville, they often hold master classes, which bring them into personal contact with U.Va. music students and the broader community. Master classes are very popular with students, faculty, and community members. A $2,000 gift or $1,000 matched with funds from the music department will cover an artist's honorarium and related costs.
McIntire Department of Music—MacAvoy Fund for Private Lesson Scholarships: $500–$1,000
Private lessons—a core component of music performance education—are not covered by tuition. Funding for lessons, particularly for music majors and other advanced students, will improve the department's ensembles and bolster the recruitment of excellent players and singers to U.Va. A gift of $580 will pay for one semester, and $1,160 will cover two semesters of private, one-hour lessons for an advanced music student (instrument or voice).
McIntire Department of Music—Music Library Collection: $200–$1,000
Music students benefit immeasurably from a strong library collection of books, sound recordings, video, and online databases. Most such items have a low individual cost, and a gift of $200 to $1,000 would facilitate substantial additions to the collection.

McIntire Department of Music—Small Ensemble Concerts: $500
In addition to solo recitals and large ensemble concerts (e.g., orchestra or choir), music students present numerous small group performances each year: classical chamber music, flute choir, small jazz combos, combined studio recitals, and others. A $500 gift will underwrite a typical small ensemble concert.
McIntire Department of Music—Student Recitals: $1,000
A public solo performance is the traditional capstone to an undergraduate music degree, allowing students to demonstrate their achievements to faculty and student colleagues, family members, and the community. A $1,000 gift will underwrite a typical student recital, paying for concert production costs, publicity, and accompanying and coaching fees.
University of Virginia Art Museum
University of Virginia Art Museum—Collection Displays for Schools: $500–$2,000
The University of Virginia Art Museum invites teachers at community schools to partner with curators and education staff members to develop permanent collection displays featuring Asian, African, ancient, and Native American objects that support the schools' curriculum and Virginia's Standards of Learning. These cases will be available for school visits in the museum's new Education Resource Room. Funds are needed to provide cases and honoraria for teachers and to develop curriculum guides.
University of Virginia Art Museum—Early Visions: $500–$2,500
Each spring the University of Virginia Art Museum offers an eight-week program of curricular, motivational, and creative activities for youth from the surrounding community. The museum is currently working with the local Boys & Girls Club whose members are mentored by University of Virginia student docents. Early Visions participants are also eligible to serve as apprentices in the museum's Summer Arts academy. Funds are needed for supplies, transportation, and artists' honoraria.

University of Virginia Art Museum—Special Lectures and Gallery Talks: $500–$1,000
Each year, the University of Virginia Art Museum invites curators, artists, and other special guests to present lecture and gallery talks, and participate in symposia in conjunction with special exhibitions. A gift of $500 will support one honorarium; additional funds will cover travel and accommodation costs.
University of Virginia Art Museum—Teachers' pARTy: $500–$1,000
Each fall, in conjunction with the University of Virginia Art Museum's Final Friday receptions, the museum's education department invites teachers and administrators to kick off the school year, celebrate their achievements, meet museum staff, and preview the Writer's Eye program and special exhibitions. Guests leave with bags filled with museum information and partnership plans. Funds are needed for invitations and materials.
