Not only did we enjoy the hopot, we enjoyed seeing what our fellow Wahoos are doing around the capital city and chatted about President Sullivan's upcoming visit to Beijing. Thank you to everyone who came out to the Admitted Student Reception at Xiao Wang Fu Restaurant in Ritan Park. Admitted local students and their parents had the opportunity to reach out to alumni, parents and friends of the University in making their decision about which University to attend.
2011 Alternative Winter Break Community Service Project

On January 15 students participating in Alternative Winter Break visited Beijing to learn more about China and participate in a community service project. The the UVaClub of China-Beijing hosted a casual welcome dinner at Xiao Wang Fu Restaurant in Ritan Park generously sponsored by UVa's Office of Engagement and the UVaFamilies program. More than 20 alumni and parents came out to meet the students and local `Hoos while enjoying a traditional Chinese meal. 2010 College Fair

On Sunday, November 6 Beijing alumni attended the college fair at the Tsinghua International School to represent U.Va. It was great fun and a real success. Many students were knowledgeable about Virginia and asked pointed questions about admissions standards, prominent schools within the University and tuition. The future looks bright for U.Va.! All alumni and parents were invited and encouraged to attend the Second Annual Admitted Students Reception in Beijing. Quickly becoming a favorite tradition of the UVaClub of China - Beijing, the event gaves newly admitted local students and their parents the opportunity to reach out to alumni, parents and friends of the University while making their decision. It also gave alumni the chance to reconnect with each other as well as see the future of U.Va. The U.Va. Office of Engagement and our Club president Jerry Peng generously sponsored the event. All U.Va. young alumni and young alumni at heart were invited to Dim Sum with fellow Beijing 'Hoos. This was the second event in the young alumni series, which has been generously sponsored through a grant from U.Va.’s Office of Engagement and the Alumni Association. Much gratitude goes out to Napatra Charassuvichakanich and Stephen Leonelli for planning this event. Seventeen alumni and parents came out to share in the afternoon gathering at Tang Yuan Dim Sum 唐缘酒楼.
'Hoos Helping Haiti

The UVaClub of China-Beijing took part in an Inter-University Benefit for Haiti held at the Westin in Chaoyang. Over 140 alumni from US and UK schools attended the event, which raised a total of 12,820 CNY for Partners in Health, a global medical charity. Everyone enjoyed the well-organized event, which also helped raise awareness about, and funds for, the humanitarian crisis in Haiti.
