This UVaClub of Los Angeles is always looking for new members and new ideas. Whether you are interested in working with students, planning community service, educational, or social events, there are many opportunities for involvement with the club. For questions about any of the following opportunities, please contact us.

Join the UVaClub of Los Angeles

There are several different ways you can involve yourself in the UVaClub of Los Angeles. Some of the following committees have a social focus, others a service-oriented one. We encourage you to read the following descriptions and let us know which one(s) appeal to you. Please send a message to the relevant board member or to club President Jenny Weatherholtz indiciating your interest. Thanks again for your commitment!

Sports and Social Committee

Contact: Jesse Spears

This committee is responsible for keeping Los Angeles Wahoos in touch with the Cavalier sports dynasty. Committee members will arrange viewing locales for football games, basketball games, and other sporting events. In addition, this group will arrange any inter-club sporting events, IM teams and pick-up games.

Cavaliers Care

Contact: Mark Joshua and Alex Rixey

The Cavaliers Care committee will work to provide opportunities for UVA club members to make a positive impact on the Los Angeles community. Committee members will coordinate service events with local non-profit groups. In addition, this group will coordinate with Alumni Hall and the larger national Cavalier Cares movement. Past service events have included collaborations with Heal the Bay, The LA Regional Foodbank, Operation Gratitude and Reading to Kids.

Hoo's Next Committee

Contact: Scott Steuber

The Hoo's Next committee will work to increase the number of students applying to and attending U.Va. from the Los Angeles area. Committee members will coordinate the annual admissions panel for prospective students, participate in local college fairs, contact local high schools, and conduct the annual book award program.

Membership

Contact: Terrye Underwood

The membership committee serves as the infrastructure of the club. This committee manages the club's finances and membership information. In addition, this committee will be the central source for all club information and publicity, the website, etc.

Communications Committee

Contact: Lucy Carr

The communications committee is responsibile for maintaining the club's website and Facebook page, as well as generating e-blasts, fliers and any other publicity materials.
