Dear UVaClub Leader:

Welcome to the UVaClub Leaders' Guide, where you will find the answers to your UVaClub-related questions. Whether you are interested in forming a new club, opening a financial club account, defining the roles of Board members, or developing programs for engaging constituents in your area, you will find clear information in an easy-to-use format.

Since the 1880s, University of Virginia's alumni clubs have maintained a tradition of service to their communities and hospitality toward their sports teams and distinguished visitors. Today's UVaClubs have evolved as a vital part of the worldwide University community, providing opportunities to U.Va. alumni and families for social networking, professional development, community service and admissions outreach.

UVaClubs are volunteer organizations dedicated to making connections, providing enrichment and continuing the University's tradition of service. UVaClubs affect their communities in five significant ways:

Admissions Outreach

- Raising awareness of U.Va. among prospective students
- Congratulating admitted students
- Celebrating and welcoming your community’s U.Va. students and parents at Student Send-off Party

Community Service

- Making a difference by volunteering with fellow ‘Hoos in local community service projects
- Taking part in annual service initiative, Cavaliers Care Worldwide

Cultural and Educational Programming

- Continuing your education with visiting faculty members
- Experiencing the local flavor of your community with other area 'Hoos

Professional Development and Networking

- Forging new professional relationships at networking events
- Expanding knowledge of your field at industry expert panels

Social Activities

- Enjoying U.Va. sports locally with fellow alumni and family members
- Building networks of young alumni in cities around the world

By leading a UVaClub, you are creating opportunities for University of Virginia alumni and parents in your area to enjoy a stronger relationship with one another and the University. It is our goal that this be a rewarding experience for our club leaders as well, and we hope that this guide is helpful to you. We are continually grateful for your volunteerism and your leadership.

Sincerely,

Sarah E. Brown
