The University of Virginia

Schools Committee

The University of Virginia aspires to attract students who will benefit from the educational experience it offers. Encouraging these students to pursue a U.Va. education or accept the University's offer to attend are crucial steps in the recruitment and admissions process.  By answering their questions in a warm and caring manner and lending insight based upon your own experiences, you will help these young people to make one of the most important and lasting decisions of their lives.

College Fairs

College fairs provide students with information on many colleges during one major event. Alumni representatives answer general questions about the University, distribute information and collect names and addresses so that we may mail prospective students additional literature.

Evening Programs

Evening Programs help the University recruit students who live outside the state. The programs include a slide presentation, a talk from an admissions dean and an alumni panel discussion. These programs allow us to reach many high school sophomores and juniors in a single evening.

Junior Nights

Junior Nights are similar to Evening Programs but are held in Virginia. Current students talk about their experiences and answer questions about how they made their decision to attend the University. While an admissions dean is the primary representative, Schools Committees organize Junior Nights.

April Congratulatory Calls

Congratulatory calls offer students meaningful personal contact with people who know first-hand how much the University has to offer.  These calls require minimal time commitment and can be made at your convenience between early April and May 1, the offer acceptance deadline.

April Receptions

Receptions are festive and relaxed events for the accepted students, their parents and members of the Club.  These events are a great way to increase the students' desire to attend the University.

Send-Off Parties

These events allow incoming and current students the opportunity to make new friends and interact with the University's alumni, family and friends in their own community.  UVaClubs sponsoring the event enjoy interacting with the students and sharing helpful hints and a few good stories about their experiences at the University. Send-Off events are purely for pleasure and create excitement about the coming school year.
