Wed. 2/29/12, Various Times - UVaClub of Richmond: 2012 Hokies vs. 'Hoos Food Fight
The Hokies vs. 'Hoos Food Fight capitalizes on the fierce rivalry between Richmond-area Virginia Tech and U.Va. alumni and fans by encouraging donations to the Central Virginia Food Bank. Seven years of this heated competition have yielded more than 236,000 meals for the hungry in central Virginia, with the 'Hoos holding a 4-3 edge over the Hokies.
Support the 8th annual Food Fight this February in one, or more, of the following ways:
Donate online at http://www.hokiesvshoos.com
Donate food at local Martin's stores February 20 - 26
Volunteer at the Central Virginia Food Bank on February 15 Backpack Packing or in the Community Kitchen on February 14, 15 or 17.

Tue. 3/13/12, 7:00 PM - UVaClub of Richmond: March Book Club
In the Sanctuary of Outcasts (2009).
Neil White, a young upper-crust, intermittently wealthy dude, served a prison sentence for check kiting and other bank fraud in, for most practical purposes, the federal leprosarium of Carville, La. When he was young, his mother told him he was "special"; his father provided little supervision as a teen but a whole bunch of hugs when he returned home from work late a "happy drunk." Read this memoir of how the least of those in society helped transform this entitled man into a man with a value system which he eventually chose to live, walking the talk. See the transformation take place as it happens. See who spends time passing time in a minimum-security prison in the deep South, complete with golf course and Kids' Play Days planned by the guards.
