As you prepare to come to UVA in August 2017, we want to make sure you know about UVA Express. UVA Express is a program designed to help transition new first-year and transfer undergraduate students living outside of the United States into life at the University of Virginia. UVA Express is for first-year and new undergraduate transfer students only.

UVA Express is a free, one-way bus transportation and hospitality program from Dulles International Airport in Washington, DC to the University of Virginia on Tuesday, August 15th. If you are unable to arrive in the U.S. on this day, they are other ways to reach Charlotteasville, VA as noted below.

The UVA Express program operates for one day as a one-way service in August. Once you have arrived in Charlottesville, parents and students utilizing this service are responsible for all transportation within Charlottesville and back to Dulles International airport.

All first-year, new transfer students, and family members riding UVA Express on August 15th will be greeted at Dulles airport by University of Virginia staff or volunteers who will coordinate bus departures.

All students riding UVA Express will be brought to the UVA Express Hospitality Center on Grounds. From the hospitality center, staff and volunteers will help you obtain your student ID and move you into your residence hall.

Orientation: Remember you must sign up for Orientation with the Student Orientation office. All new students are asked to attend Summer Orientation, a two-day introduction to academics, student life, and the resources available to you at the University. Students who ride UVA Express will attend Session K.

Are you an exchange student, graduate student or a returning Student? Plan your travel to UVA:

  • If you are flying into Dulles International Airport, Charlottesville may be reached by U.S. train Amtrak though it requires first traveling to DC’s Union Station from Dulles.
  • If you are flying into Charlottesville-Ablemarle Airport, there are plenty of taxi and car services available for transportation to the University of Virginia Grounds.
