2007 UVaClub Leader's Guide

Dear Friend:

Welcome to the UVaClub Leader's Guide where you will find the answers to all your UVaClub-related questions.  Whether you are interested in forming a new club, opening a financial club account, defining the roles of Board members, or developing programs for engaging constituents in your area, you will find clear information in an easy-to-use format.

Spanning from the 1880s, University of Virginia alumni clubs have a rich tradition of service to their communities and hospitality toward their sports teams and distinguished visitors.  Today's UVaClub continues these traditions, making a difference in their community through the nationwide Cavaliers Care campaign, encouraging exceptional high school students to attend the University, and offering many experiences for growth, social interaction, and networking.  UVaClubs do all this while keeping up with the busy lifestyles of their alumni, family, and friends, offering everyone a welcoming place to come home.

The UVaClubs program offers University of Virginia alumni, family, and friends opportunities to engage in the life of the University in more than 100 communities across the United States and abroad.  These clubs are volunteer organizations dedicated to making connections, providing enrichment, and continuing the University's tradition of service.  UVaClubs affect their communities in three significant ways:

Making Connections

Celebrating our ties to one another and promoting the University to prospective students through:
  • Social and sporting events
  • Family and young alumni programs
  • Regional signature events
  • Admissions Liaison Program
  • College fairs and evening programs
  • Student send-off events
  • Jefferson Book Award recognition

Enriching Lives

Providing opportunities to continue life-long enrichment through:
  • Cultural events
  • Faculty speaking events
  • Networking and career panels
  • Discussion groups and book clubs

Serving Communities

Continuing the tradition of the University's volunteer spirit through:
  • Cavaliers Care, a one-time or year-round community service program
  • Scholarship and financial aid program support
  • Regional leadership networks

Thank you for your support of the UVaClubs' program.  The dedication and leadership of our UVaClub leaders ensures that all of the Hoos in your area will enjoy a stronger relationship with one another and the University.

Cordially,
